We are holding weekly Zoom meetings on Sundays for our athletes and volunteers during lockdown as it could be many weeks before training and competitions can start again. Simple exercises are posted on our Facebook page and athletes are encouraged to follow the guidance on fitness and well-being issued by SOGB.
Special Olympics GB has decided that NO Special Olympics activity is to take place in any club until further notice as a precautionary measure against Covid-19. Due to the coronavirus we have decided to suspend all Sunday training until after Easter. The boccia tournament, due to take place on 26th April, has also been postponed. This decision was made as we have a responsibility for the welfare of all our athletes and volunteers.

We have received a Magic Little Grant through the partnership between Localgiving and the Postcode Community Trust. The Postcode Community Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Celebrating 40 years of Special Olympics in Great Britain, the Anniversary Games were held from 9th to 13th August at the University of Stirling. On Thursday 9th August six of our athletes will travel to Stirling for four days competition in the Special Olympics Anniversary Games. Southport College Sports Hall is then closed for three weeks for student registration.
